In the early 1980’s, a serial rapist is actively preying on young women in the Seattle and surrounding areas. After three attacks, the last resulting in a brutal murder, Seattle Detective Alex Jolley and King County Sheriff’s Detective Carl Williams have few leads. All they know is that they are pursuing an individual who is young, mobile and becoming increasingly inventive.
Walter Duggan is handsome, from a wealthy family and attends the region’s most prestigious college prep academy. He’s also extremely twisted, subject to what he admits are special ‘needs’. Extremely intelligent, he’s confident of his ability to continue with his sexual conquests, while eluding local authorities.
When an intended victim, Gina Mortenson, turns out to be more than Walter can handle, the detectives begin to gain a better idea of what they're up against. However, the trail soon grows cold and they are left with a waiting game.
After the most recent attack, Alex is approached by an Eastside teenager, Matthew “Matt” Lowenson, who provides information, details of the crimes that no one can possibly know. Working together, Matt and the detective are able to determine Walter’s identity and begin mapping out a case. Momentarily setting his skepticism, as the information builds Alex’s confidence they are on the right track strengthens.
What Alex isn't aware of is that Matt is one of the Marked, the most recent of an ancient cadre of individuals who are ‘blessed’ with an erratic knowledge of the future. With help from his mentors Land Bennett and Julia Simpson, Matt is able to tread the fine line between insanity and credibility. As the pursuit of Walter intensifies, Matt is able to call upon this knowledge in what becomes a deadly game of cat and mouse.
Set in both the present and 1980’s Seattle, Just Marked bristles with the tension of doing what is right versus revelation of what Matt and fellow Marked represent.

I started out reading the book as a favor to my employer - his brother wrote the book. But, I ended up genuinely liking the book! This is my idea of a perfect weekend read. It is entertaining and easy to read. There is just enough description of scenery/sets to let you know where the story is taking place, but you aren't bored to tears by flowery, unnecessary prose that detracts from the actual action. The characters are likable and interesting. The storyline had enough mystery and suspense to hold my attention and I even found myself looking forward to when I would have a chance to sit down and read some more of the story. This is the author's first published book and it is pretty good! This is suppose to be the first book in a series and by the end of the book, I was definitely left wanting another book. There are still things I want to learn about the characters and I want to know how it all ultimately ends!! My only criticism would be that there could be a bit more back story to the main characters, especially the villain. These characters are interesting enough that I wanted to know more about them!!Product details

This was pretty interesting, but I am left with questions. What happens with Matt, Julia, Land, Alex....... Maybe another book will follow soon?
I stayed up through the night to finish reading. Sometimes people wonder what they would do with their life if they had a chance to go back to do it again, while maintaining their current knowledge..........this book gives you some idea of how that would really be......the good, the bad, and the ugly! All that while trying to catch a sociopath!
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Fahsholtz is a new author for me and I cannot wait to read the next Lowenson and Jolley novel. I do not usually enjoy science fiction type literature but somehow, this book caught my attention and kept it throughout the book. Well done.
I was totally hooked. I love historical fiction. I also liked how the story took place in and around Seattle. I just basically liked the authors style of writing and can't wait until the next book in this series comes out.
This book reinforces the love I have for local authors. The writing style does a wonderful job of bringing the feeling of Washington State to life, and it provides an excellent backdrop for a great story. The story revolves around several characters, a few of which are "marked", meaning they have a special insight into the future. Both the "marked" and local authorities team up to try and catch a serial rapist, and using the gift of the "marked", try and prevent the crimes that he is about to commit. Without giving too much away, I would just like to say that this book does make you think about the true value of what is right and wrong, and I highly recommend anyone give it read; you be very glad you did!
A unique angle for looking at a criminal act. Interesting characters and story line keep you reading until the end. Well done.
Slow start, and as I read on and realized it was not going to be a run-of-the-mill story, I was mad. I don't enjoy anything even remotely approaching science fiction, the supernatural, or any sort of fantasy - I have no idea why I kept reading, but I am glad I did. Only thing wrong with this is that it ended too soon. I liked all the characters, even the bad guy. Look forward to more.
